Ferring Country Centre
New Horizons for People with Learning Difficulties

The Ferring Country Centre is an independent charity which provides meaningful work experience and training for adults with learning difficulties. The Centre allows them to learn in a safe and supervised environment within our Riding Therapy Unit, Garden Centre and Arts & Crafts Workshop. We afford our Clients the opportunities others take for granted, like driving and helping others less able than themselves. The Centre was established in 1986 by a small group of parents who saw the need to provide choices for those who could not cope with indoor activities and would benefit from work in an outdoor situation.

We are open 7 days a week Monday – Friday 8.00 am – 4.30 pm.
(Please note the garden centre is open Saturday/Sunday 8.30-12noon April-October)

At the Centre we promote repsonsibility by applying a work ethos to all who attend.
We are sitiuated in the small village of Ferring to the west of Worthing and our work is carried out at two locations.

Our Football Team

The Rife Way site is a small agricultural holding of about 8 hectares comprising of two units: Horticultural and Riding Therapy. Our second site, Brook Lane Workshop is a small specialised Workshop located in the heart of the village.

The Centre is supported by a strong volunteer group who help in all kinds of ways. Our core funding is from Social Services payments for individuals attending the Centre. This income covers the major part of the day to day costs for operating the Centre. All other costs are met by fundraising through events held during the year and the sale of plants and other goods produced by our Clients.
