Today, Ann Gearing, representing Arun Art Society, came to present a cheque for £160 to Ferring Country Centre. Two of our day service customers accompanied Ann on a tour of the new allotment area and to receive the cheque on behalf of the Centre. They explained with pride, what they had planted and how they care for the plants by watering and weeding. Ann was impressed by the wide range of produce being grown.

We were delighted to learn that members of our local Art club - Arun Art Society - voted to support Ferring Country Centre via their raffle during their annual exhibition. The exhibition, which was held at Ferring Village Hall between Friday 22nd July and Sunday 24th July, displayed a wide range of beautiful paintings - oil, acrylic, watercolour etc. - alongside 3D sculptural work.

The money that the society raised will go into the Ferring Country Centre general fund, being used wherever the need is greatest. It will help to support projects such as the new allotment, enabling our Day Service Customers the chance to, not just partake in activities but to thrive.

Arun Art Society is made up of local artists from Ferring and the surrounding area. It is proud to have nearly 60 members. They meet every Wednesday morning at Ferring Village Hall and during the warmer months they also meet outside. To help visitors to The Barn, the local surgery, a little more relaxed, Arun Art Society provide a small display of members' work, changing it every six months or so. You can also see a gallery of work on their website.

Arun Art Society are always keen to attract new members. So, if you fancy joining a friendly local group of like-minded artists, why not contact them via the membership page on their website. www.arunartsociety.co.uk

We are hoping to welcome the group to Ferring Country Centre, for an outdoor painting session and drinks/lunch in the Ranger's Cafe at the end of September. How wonderful it is when the community supports each other to make life a little bit brighter for everyone.
