On Friday 7th July, GWCA solicitors held their Summer gathering at Ferring Country Centre. Sizzling hog roast and oven baked pizza aromas wafted through the summer air, mingled with the sounds of merry chatter, laughter and steel drums. Not only was the evening a celebration for the employees and their families but it also marked the opening of a new attraction at Ferring Country Centre.

Over the past year, GWCA solicitors have held many fund raising events for Ferring Country Centre resulting in a cheque for an amazing total of £11,804.66 It was decided the money would be spent on creating a Tractor Track, including an enclosed area with safety flooring, benches for spectators to sit and ride on tractors, for our younger guests.

Staff from both GWCA and Ferring Country Centre gathered around the new area with Prosecco and Pimms as Hannah Tombs (CEO) welcomed everyone and thanked GWCA for their efforts in raising the money. She explained that updating Dales Farm would encourage people to visit, offering them more to enjoy on a family day out. The money raised from Farm visits, provides crucial funding for animal care and helps towards the upkeep of the facilities for the people with learning disabilities who attend The Centre.

Next, Malcolm Dickson Partner from GWCA Steyning Branch, addressed everyone and with the help of his boys, he cut the ribbon and declared the new Tractor Track officially open! Children eagerly pulled the vehicles out of their special shed and clambered onto the red, blue, yellow and green tractors. It was a happy scene to see them playing together, the older children helping the younger ones by pushing them round. If the smiles and laughter were anything to go by, the new Tractor Track is going to be a tremendous success!

Thank you GWCA for all your support! We simply couldn’t fund projects like this without the help of enthusiastic, kind hearted people such as yourselves.
